Maria Antionette Traccarella-Cucinotta
Maria Antionette Traccarella-Cucinotta, formerly of Kennett Square, died on Feb. 25 in Alexandria, Va.
Born Nov. 18, 1928, she was raised in Kennett Square, where she attended school through grade 12. She participated in cheerleading, debate and theatre, and was active in programs sponsored by the American Legion. She always spoke fondly of the warmth of a small town. She later attended Beacon College.
In 1945, she married her Kennett childhood sweetheart, Salvatore Cucinotta. The USMC relocated them to Washington DC. They lived in Virginia, and raised a family. Marie worked several part-time jobs while raising her daughter but worked full-time for nine years as secretary to the Admiral at the Office of Chief of Naval Information at the Pentagon.
Upon Sal’s retirement in 1976, they spent some time living in the Wilmington, Del, and Chadds Ford areas, but the majority of the time in central Florida, where they were very active in community and church programs. A voracious reader, creative, friendly, outgoing and outstanding organizer, Marie never lacked for things to do or friends to do them with.
A service will be held Aug. 5. For more information, call Jane Rother at 703-759-5669.
